Summer of free shows

A SUMMER season of free entertainment begins in Morpeth Market Place on Saturday.

The three-week venture has been organised by the Greater Morpeth Development Trust (GMDT), Morpeth Town Council and the Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade.

It begins on Saturday with an open air concert by all-girl duo Along Came Lola and on Saturday, August 20 vocalist Zita Frith and guitarist Lloyd Wright will be performing.

The season closes on August Bank Holiday Saturday with swing jazz vocalist Jason King making an appearance.

Chairman of the GMDT Arts and Culture group Frank Rescigno said: “Along with the town council and the chamber of trade we see the open air concerts as a great way of promoting Morpeth, supporting our local retailers and entertaining residents and visitors alike over three key summer Saturday afternoons.”

All performances are free and take place between 1pm and 3pm.
