Youth music festival returns

Young musicians are warming up for an annual festival.

Morpeth Mayor Nic Best will open the Wansbeck Music Festival at King Edward VI School (KEVI) on Wednesday at 5pm, followed by steel band performances.

On Thursday, Northumberland Church of England Academy in Ashington hosts school choir contests by day and advanced piano and vocals in the evening.

Next Friday, St George’s United Reformed Church in Morpeth stages recorder and woodwind sessions, with evening string and brass contests at KEVI.

Young pianists, singers and guitarists will compete at Ashington YMCA on Saturday, March 21, with the closing concert at St George’s at 6.30pm.
