A LARGE village hall audience enjoyed a twist on a classic tale for Cambo First School’s summer performance.
They did the Roald Dahl version of Jack and the Beanstalk, which meant naughty was the key theme of the show.
School headteacher Paula Cummings said: “Poor young Jack and his mother so hard up, no money to hand and only a poor, old lazy cow to sell – and all he got was one lousy bean!
“His mother was definitely not happy and beat him for half an hour with a hoover handle. Luckily, he didn’t get eaten by our fabulous giant, although his poor old mummy did.
“We have a strong, recognised arts ethos across the whole curriculum. Our children really enjoy watching live performances and being involved in performing for the community and the experience gives them bag loads of confidence.
“Those involved in Jack and the Beanstalk took to the stage with great gusto and all the teachers and parents were very impressed with their super acting.
“The house was packed to the rafters and everyone had a fabulous time.”
