Chance to be part of musical about war

Auditions for Ponteland Repertory Society’s next production later this year are to be held on Saturday, July 12, in what could be the most poignant show in the group’s near 90-year history.

And members are hoping to recruit more performers to their ranks for Oh! What A Lovely War.

The musical about life in the trenches, created in 1963, is being staged during the centenary of the First World War and will be performed at Ponteland Memorial Hall, built to commemorate the local men who gave their lives in the conflict.

The story is told from the point of view of the ordinary soldiers and their families back home. The society is looking for teenagers and a mix of adult ages to take part – experience is not essential.

Auditions and an introductory workshop will take place in the hall from 1pm to 5pm. Call Carole Davies on 01661 871161 for more details.
