THE village of Cranford will move to Belsay this weekend for an outdoor theatre experience.

Chapterhouse Theatre Company will present a production of the Elizabeth Gaskell classic novel to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the author’s birth.

Set deep in the tranquil English countryside, this most traditional tale of snobbery, gossip and social scandal pits lost loves against old friends with sensational results.

This new adaptation has been written by Laura Turner.

The performance will take place in the Walled Garden of Belsay Hall and the audience is invited to take chairs and picnics along, as well as dress for the weather.

The play will run on Saturday, starting at 7.30pm, but the garden will be open for picnics from 6.45pm.

Tickets cost £14 for adults and £12 for concessions and children on the night.

Advance purchase tickets are available at £12 adults and £10 concessions and children. They can be booked at the venue or by calling 01661 881636.
