A fund-raising event is taking place to help boost the coffers of an amateur dramatics group.
Ponteland Repertory Society will present an entertaining evening of supper and songs on Saturday.
The Caprians, a well-known choir from Gateshead, and the Repertory Society’s youth group, the Preppies, will perform at Ponteland’s St Mary’s Church hall.
The programme will include Tyneside and other folksongs, while the Preppies will be singing selections from Oliver! and Wind In the Willows.
Ponteland Repertory Society chairman Richard Davies was one of the founder members of the Caprians when the original nine choir members were all at Gateshead Grammar School.
The best-known of them was the late Alex Glasgow and probably the programme will include some of the songs he recorded, such as When the Boat Comes In and Close the Coalhouse Door.
Tickets for the event, which starts at 7pm, are on sale from Carole Davies 01661 871161 or Janet Walton on 01661 823433.
They are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s, which includes the buffet supper and a welcome drink.
The event will raise money for the society to continue its annual productions. For more information, visit www.pontelandrep.co.uk
