A CLASSIC fairytale was given a fresh approach as children took to the stage to perform Roald Dahl’s version of Cinderella.
More than 200 people packed into Cambo Village Hall to watch the summer performance by pupils at Cambo First School.
But this time the prince didn’t get the princess — Cinderella thought him too horrid for chopping off the heads of the ugly sisters and picked out another fellow instead.
The ugly sisters stole the show with their awful treatment of poor Cinders, and with Katherine Anderson on keyboards, the singing was a hit.
Cambo headteacher Paula Cummings said: “All of the children took to the stage under the guidance of our director Mrs Ruth Foley, who once again did a sterling job.
“A fabulous performance, and did I mention those fabulous costumes? We didn’t recognise half the children.”
