A top trio of panto stars are set to take a bow at a regional awards night — oh yes they are.
Morpeth Pantomime Society members Eric Tolman, Ellie Cape and Pippa Gammer have been nominated for performance honours in the National Operatic and Dramatic Association’s (NODA) regional awards.
There are so many societies in the North East region and for three of our members to stand out so much is an achievement in itself.Bruce Ennion, Morpeth Pantomime Society Chairman
The nominations recognise their performances as Smee, Noel and Tinkerbell respectively in the society’s sell-out production of Peter Pan the Pantomime earlier this year.
The prestige builds on last year’s success when fellow member Ellie O’Brien won a NODA Regional Youth Award.
Society Chairman Bruce Ennion said: “To have three members nominated for awards like these is just brilliant.
“There are so many societies in the North East region and for three of our members to stand out so much is an achievement in itself for our relatively small society.
“These nominations reflect the new talent that the society has attracted over the past two years as Ellie and Eric are completely new to the society and Peter Pan was only Pippa’s third show.”
He added: “We are so proud of how far the society has progressed.”
The nominees and their families have been invited to an awards dinner next month when the winners will be revealed.
The Morpeth group’s next production will be Beauty and the Beast, running from January 21 to 23 at King Edward VI School.
An open evening will be held at Morpeth Rugby Club on Monday, September 7, at 7pm, for existing and new members to find out more.
