Highlights Rural Touring Scheme is bringing Cornwall’s ‘Owdyado Theatre Company to Wingates Institute with a film noir inspired play that fuses two storylines from different realities to the point where the audience will have to decide which one is real.

Private eye and troubled sleeper Charlie Daniels is hired by the seductive Elise Hillerman to investigate the disappearance of her husband – a prominent gallery owner.

Writers Charlotte and Dan, meanwhile, struggle to write their new noir-inspired theatre show about an art forgery ring.

As scenes spin, fragment and entangle with each other, one question arises: whose reality is real?

With its sharp wit, quick pace and a heavy dose of noir style, from the classic to the neo, A View from the Edge is an intelligent and entertaining show where the search for the truth provokes a mind-bending journey through the world of dreams, imagination and real life. The show borrows from cult filmmakers Charlie Kaufman and David Lynch and has influences of The Coen Brothers, Pirandello and The Twilight Zone.

The show is directed by award-winning film and stage director Brett Harvey (Weekend Retreat) and is performed by a cast of four to an original score from Ben Sutcliffe (The People’s String Foundation). As part of a national tour, the show will be going to village halls in partnership with Highlights Rural Touring Scheme.

‘Owdyado makes original works about people who find themselves in unexpected situations from which everyday philosophical dilemmas arise.

Its shows are amusing, thought provoking, and always contain a surprising plot twist.

A View from the Edge is a highly original show that will delight, intrigue and keep you guessing until the end.

It can be seen at Wingates on Thursday, March 2, at 7.30pm. Call 01669 620512.
