AN annual international prayer service will bring Morpeth churches together.
The Women’s World Day of Prayer (WWDP) takes place on the first Friday in March as Christian women of all denominations take part in services across the globe.
The first service is held at dawn in Tonga then spreads through the Pacific and Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, the Caribbean and South, Central and North America. The final service is held on an island off the coast of Alaska.
This year’s ecumenical service has been prepared by women of Malaysia and is entitled Let Justice Prevail. The Morpeth day of prayer has become a major event in the town’s church calendar and is always well attended.
This year’s speaker will be Anne Collinson and music will be provided by a choir and musicians drawn from all the churches in Morpeth and Mitford.
Chairman of the Morpeth WWDP Committtee Val Libby said: “It is always a pleasure to join with people of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate this day of prayer throughout the world and pray for the women of Malaysia. We would like to invite everyone, men as well as women, to come along and be a part of this wonderful service.”
The service will be held at Morpeth Methodist Church in Howard Terrace on Friday, March 2, at 2pm. Refreshments will be served in the Church Hall after the service.
