As the country emerges from lockdown and restrictions are lifted, they are encouraging more farmers to take part and host a simple event.

Its free online ticketing service will allow for greater control of visitor numbers and timeslots can help manage the flow of visitors which will go some way towards easing any concerns over social distancing.

She said: “I am delighted to take up the role of LEAF Open Farm Sunday Ambassador covering North East England and I look forward to supporting our host farmers in the run up to this year’s event.

“As a farmer’s daughter and working on our tenanted family farm in north Northumberland I have a vested interest in the public’s engagement with the agricultural industry.

"Farming in general has taken a well-documented beating in the press of late and with the help of organisations such as LEAF, there is a real chance to shift this perception.”

New host farmers would be fully supported with access to online resources, training videos, webinars and of course at the end of the phone. From small private, invite only events to self-guided farm walks or organised talks and displays, LEAF Open Farm Sunday can be as small or as large as you like, you decide.
