Report is good news for school

Linton Primary School had something to celebrate just before the end of term – a positive Ofsted report.

Linton Primary School celebrates the Ofsted Good rating.

The report recognised ‘the swift and decisive action’ needed to take it from Requires Improvement to a Good rating in just over two years.

The school, which has just 29 pupils on roll, was inspected on June 25 and 26 under the current more demanding Ofsted framework.

It was delighted to be told that the skilled teaching has provided ‘children with a rich and fascinating curriculum’.

When Samantha Mason was appointed headteacher in September 2016, she set in place what Ofsted has described as an ‘unwavering mission to secure an excellent standard of education’.

The report states that since her appointment, the ‘leadership’s ongoing improvements to the quality of teaching’ is allowing pupils to make ‘improved and increasingly strong progress’.

The inspector praised the school’s work to promote pupil’s personal development, describing it as being a ‘high priority’.

Ofsted also described the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of its students as ‘highly successful’ and noted that ‘pupil’s attitudes towards learning are good’, with children ‘growing in confidence during their time at the school.’

In the feedback received via the Ofsted website, parents’ views were very positive and the school was humbled that some of them insisted on speaking to the inspector to express their overwhelming appreciation for all the school does for their children.

In addition, the governance of the school was recognised as ‘increasingly skilled and proactive’.

Mrs Mason said: “Everything we do at Linton comes from the heart. We are determined to do our very best for the children in our care.

“We have strong shared values and a belief that every child deserves to have the opportunity to have positive learning experiences that bring out the best in them.

“It’s lovely for the whole staff team to be recognised for the hard work they do and have everything we believe in – providing a strong curriculum rooted in spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development – validated.”
