Coronavirus: The Maltings theatre and café in Berwick to close its doors

The Maltings theatre and cinema in Berwick, including its café, is to close its doors due to coronavirus.

In a statement on its social media channels, the venue announced that it will be shut until the end of May.

It stated: ‘Following the latest advice from Government, we’ve decided to close The Maltings’ site to the public (including the Maltings Café Bar) from 4pm on Saturday 21 March through to the end of May, to play our part in stopping the spread of the virus. The Gymnasium Gallery will also be closed. The Granary Gallery will remain open as long as the YHA is open.

‘We want our staff, customers and artists to stay well and healthy.

‘We’re working hard behind the scenes to reschedule events, wherever possible. Box Office will be in touch with ticketholders over the next few days. Thanks to everyone who’s sent us messages of support at what’s a difficult time for us all.’
