New data released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows which areas of Northumberland have seen the highest number of deaths related to Covid-19.

The statistics give a breakdown of the total number of deaths within the county for the first time.

According to the figures, 87 coronavirus deaths were confirmed in Northumberland up until April 17.

Three areas have recorded six deaths each, the joint highest - Longhoughton and Alnmouth; Amble, Shilbottle and Swarland; and Guide Post and Stakeford.

The ONS data only includes deaths which occurred between March 1- April 17 and deaths where coronavirus was the underlying cause or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributing factor.

The information is based on details collected when the deaths were registered and does not reflect the actual location of the deaths.
