Major projects will not take place at Ponteland Leisure Centre until the longer term picture for the area has been decided, a senior officer has revealed.
Active Northumberland took on the running of the facility in December and chief executive Bruce Ledger spoke at a stakeholder group meeting.
The county council has earmarked £20million for new leisure developments in Ponteland and Morpeth in its future spending plans and they may be moved to alternative sites.
The meeting report says: ‘In the medium term, Active Northumberland will be looking at some development at the leisure centre such as assessment of the gym equipment, some of which is outdated.
‘But Mr Ledger wished the group to understand that big building developments at the centre will probably not be taken forward until the longer term future plans are clearer.’
