Chaplain’s insight into hospital

MEMBERS of Morpeth Townswomen’s Guild met in St Robert’s Church Hall for our February meeting.

Our Chairman Mrs Irving Rutherford introduced our speaker Rev Gillian Harwood, Chaplain at Wansbeck Hospital and a former curate here in Morpeth.

It was a very interesting talk and an insight into the work of hospital chaplains. Much of her work involves pastoral care and there were many tears when she mentioned her work with bereaved parents and her interest in the Tear Drop Garden Support Group.

After a cup of tea, Mrs Lily Wilson, our Secretary, read a letter of thanks from St Oswald’s Hospice for a cheque of £50 which members raised in our Christmas raffle.

Due to illness there was no January report.

Our next meeting is on March 10 in St Robert’s Church Hall at 2pm. Everyone welcome.
