BPW North has re-election its Regional President, who will serve for a further year.
Ms Hilarie Tucknott was delighted to be joined by the Regional Treasurer, Mrs Lorna Anderson, who was also re-elected unanimously.
Sue Ashmore becomes the new Secretary for the North region of BPW, which stretches from the Scottish Borders down to Yorkshire.
Both Hilarie and Sue were teachers in Newcastle and are now on the steering committee of the North East Women’s Network and also directors of the newly-formed CAN, Community Action Northumberland. Sue has just been re-elected Vice Chairman of CAN, which works for communities across Northumberland.
Lorna is the third in the triumvirate with educational connections, being Head of Gosforth Middle School.
After an address from Ros Horsley, who had travelled up from Nottingham to tell everyone about the new marketing initiatives for BPW, minds turned to chocolate.
A demonstration by Kenspeckle, the Northumbrian artisan confectioners, proved most popular, especially the compulsory stops for tasting along the way. Dawn explained each stage of manufacture and invited a BPW member, Dr Jane Ruddle, to make chocolates too. A sticky, delicious evening was had by all.
We were particularly delighted that Steve had come along – a young man who had joined the firm only weeks before after some time unemployed. How nice to be involved in a success story.
