This Sunday (May 30), Moore House, Whalton, Morpeth, which is new to the scheme, is opening at 2pm. Next Sunday, it’s Lilburn Tower, near Wooler.
17. Hulne Park, Alnwick
The walled Hulne Park, which was landscaped by Capability Brown, is the only one remaining of the three parks that once surrounded Alnwick Castle, and provided wood and meat for the Percy family, the Dukes of Northumberland. 18. Lilburn Tower, near Wooler
Large formal gardens have a walled garden and a large glasshouse, lawns and conservatory. There is also a woodland walk with a pond garden. Also an 11th century pele tower and the 14th century church within the estate. Dogs must be on leads. Car parking available. Open on special occasions as part of the National Open Garden Scheme. Longframlington Gardens, near the village of Longframlington, is being created by horticulturist Hazel Huddleston as a multi-tasking centre for horticulture, plants and gardens.
