Hepscott WI held its March meeting in Cresswell House and was treated to a feast for the eyes when Marjorie Read, Honorary Treasurer and Company Secretary for the Northumberland Federation, demonstrated how to assemble six flower arrangements.
They ranged in complexity from a simple ‘Helter Skelter’ of daffodils to an elegant oriental display.
Marjorie’s tips on how to achieve perfect results were greatly appreciated, although when a bevy of mature ladies descend on the pharmacist at Boots to request Viagra — to keep their Gerberas stiff — I’m not sure whose face will be reddest.
No longer will plonking a bunch of flowers in a vase be acceptable and next month’s competition will show who was listening when members display their entries.
As it is our tenth birthday, and therefore the tin anniversary, it was decided that ‘ten flowers in a tin’ would be an appropriate subject.
The meeting takes place at 7.30pm, on Tuesday, April 18.
