A MEETING involving Ponteland Leisure Centre staff and user representatives is finally taking place.
After months of effort by county councillors for the area, in particular Ponteland North member Richard Dodd, swimmers and people from other groups that regularly go to the facility will be round the table with management on Wednesday.
The forum for user groups to air their views about the centre was set up during the days of Castle Morpeth Council.
In the meantime, they and Coun Dodd have had to make their own appointments – although progress was made earlier this year as operator Leisure Connection fixed the boilers that were not working following complaints about the pool temperature being very cold.
“It has been a long road to get here, so hopefully next Wednesday will be the first step towards getting the remaining improvements that are needed at the leisure centre,” said Coun Dodd.
