PUB-GOERS can pick up some signed sporting memorabilia in a Morpeth fund-raiser next week.
The Electrical Wizard in New Market will host a range of activities on Wednesday, including an auction of sporting items with Alan Shearer-signed football boots, signed photographs and signed boxing gloves by Mike Tyson and Nigel Benn among the lots.
The fun begins at the J D Wetherspoon pub at 4pm with children’s activities and games, such as apple bobbing, face painting and balloons.
For adults there will be free curry sampling, as well as a champagne reception at 7pm.
The auction will begin at 8pm and there will also be a raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses.
All proceeds will go to children’s cancer charity Clic Sargent.
Pub Manager Ashley Graham said: “There is a lot going on and if we pull it off Wetherspoons will run something similar nationally.
“We only opened in March so this is the first big charity event we have done.
“The community has been fantastic with donations for the raffle. We have vouchers for beauty places and hairdressers, as well as holiday vouchers. There’s some really good stuff to win.
“Fingers crossed we pull it off and everybody comes down to support us.”
There is no admission charge to the event.
