Some things will never change!

MORPETH’S youngsters have long been honoured for their fund-raising efforts — as this old picture shows.

The image was brought to us by Barbara Waldie, nee Ross, who is pictured with her brother Kevin in the front row.

Mrs Waldie remembers it was taken at a civic reception at Morpeth Town Hall in the 1960s to recognise local children who had raised money for the Aberfan disaster in Wales, when a colliery spoil tip collapsed on the village, killing 116 children and 28 adults.

Perhaps readers can identify some of the other children pictured?
