Morpeth Boys’ Brigade
Boys and girls of the 1st Morpeth BB Junior Section recently packed up their troubles in their old kit bags and spent an evening learning more about the First World War.
Members of the youth organisation put on their tin hats and studied the lives of some of the local people who went off and fought in that great conflict a hundred years ago.
Artillery shells, medals and old postcards were brought in for the youngsters to study.
Many of those who went off to war had been Boys’ Brigade members.
And the family names are still to be found in the town’s BB Company today.
Nine-year-old current member Tom said: “Every family in town was affected by the war.
“It must have been a tough time.”
