Cards to friends and relatives can be posted at various locations for the sum of 25p each from next week.

They will then be stamped, sorted and delivered by Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to any address within the town centre and surrounding estates, as well as Hepscott, Mitford and Fairmoor.

The collection boxes for them are in place at the Morpeth branches of Morrisons, Costa Coffee and Barclays, Treacle Wool Shop in Chantry Place, the Sainsbury’s Local in Stobhill and the Health Hut pharmacy in Kirkhill.

Secretary of the 4th Morpeth Scout Group, Beth Stuart-Cole, said: “The money raised over the last few years has contributed to the building and furnishing of the extension to our scout headquarters.

“This year, we are looking to raise the funds to continue this work and help fund scouting activities for our young members.”

The service will run from this Monday until noon on Friday, December 16.
