WANSBECK MP Ian Lavery is trying to keep Morpeth’s flood issues at the top of the political agenda with another question in Parliament today.
Mr Lavery has submitted a question about flood-related insurance problems for consideration in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs session in the House of Commons.
However, the MP will have to hope his question is one of those drawn out.
“I have submitted a question on insurance and I will try to get in to speak about the situation,” he said.
“We need to keep the pressure on and ensure flooding stays at the top of the agenda. Every time I get the opportunity, I will raise it with anybody that has any influence.
“I am not letting this drop, especially given the cost of insurance for people.”
Mr Lavery has backed the Herald’s campaign to press for funding for flood defences so that work on Morpeth’s alleviation scheme can start as soon as possible.
