A former soldier has been chosen to represent North East Coastguards at this year’s Remembrance Sunday parade in London.
Alan Armstrong, who manages Kwik Fit in Morpeth, has been with the Blyth Coastguard Rescue Team for the last five years and has been on many rescue missions.
He was chosen from more than 700 applicants for the 13-man team at the service on Sunday, November 8.
He said: “I am immensely proud to be representing the volunteer Coastguards across the UK.”
Alan will join the parade in Whitehall, which follows a service at the cenotaph and laying of wreaths by the Queen, other members of the Royal family and dignitaries.
