Elaine Norris has set up the recently launched business, called CrossFit Gaia, in the village’s industrial estate as she wants to make it easier for people there to get fit and stay that way.

Ms Norris is a competitive swimmer and after dabbling with several different methods of exercising, it was only CrossFit, a fitness programme devised by Greg Glassman in the United States in 2000, that held her attention and changed her perspective on her own health.

She said she has opened the new gym to transfer her knowledge and skills to others.

And she prides herself on not putting style before substance when it comes to her facility.

She said: “What matters is producing tangible results for members, ensuring they leave each session having achieved their personal fitness goals, and that they are looking forward to their next visit.”

CrossFit Gaia’s strength and conditioning programme is adaptable, allowing anyone of any fitness level to have a go.

Members work together in group training sessions to make things more fun and interesting, while also achieving their own personal fitness goals.

Ms Norris said that with general classes being dedicated to adults, anyone from the age of 16 up to 60 could potentially benefit.

The gym also runs a complementary taster session for anyone interested in what it has to offer.
