Allotment cash boost

WORK could re-start on the creation of new allotments at North Broomhill.

The project had stalled after social housing repairs and maintenance provider Mears said it could not afford to continue with the scheme, after it had installed one strip of fencing.

But on Monday night, members agreed to fund the rest of the project from the parish council’s reserve kitty, to a maximum of £6,000.

Coun Dickinson said: “It is the parish council’s champion piece and it will be a legacy for East Chevington.”
