ALLOTMENTS: Sympathy for plot-holders

The association members have my sympathies as they will no doubt be torn between wanting to find some straight answers from local councillors and officials as to why the issue of the insecure nature of their tenancy only became clear in the summer of 2017, and also to ensure they get the most support they can to create a new site for them.

It will be a significant challenge as it’s not just about digging up one allotment and transferring the soil to a hole dug in another site.

But out of respect to Norman Fogerty, who has a plaque on a bench at the existing allotment site, the traditions of allotment-holding need to continue for generations to come.
