A MORPETH hairdresser is aiming to blow away the competition so she can show her skills in London.
For the second year running, Amy Rutter has made it through to the semi-finals of the prestigious L’Oreal Professional Colour Trophy contest in Leeds.
The 20-year-old, who has worked at Saks in Bridge Street for three years, once again impressed judges with her cut and colour entry, which needed to be suitable for the autumn/winter period.
And she is hoping that another year’s experience will help her take one of the two national final places up for grabs next month.
“Once again I will be styling the hair of a model, who will then go on the catwalk,” said Miss Rutter.
“Last year I entered for the first time so now I know what to expect in Leeds and I’m more confident of doing well.
“I was still just starting out 12 months ago and since then I’ve studied up a lot more on hair fashion and improved my hairdressing skills.”
The top prize in the competition is A Year of Dreams, where the winner will get the chance to take part in a photo shoot with one of the UK’s top fashion magazines, work backstage at London Fashion Week and travel abroad to see a hairdressing hero working live on stage.
