THE search is on for the next Miss Northumberland.
Organisers of the county’s beauty and personality pageant are kick-starting the hunt for the 2012 winner this weekend.
On Saturday, a promotional event will take place at Morpeth’s Sanderson Arcade from 10am, which will aim to recruit potential contestants and hand out entry forms to budding beauties.
Current Miss Northumberland Laura Hickey, who is gearing up for the semi-finals of Miss England, will also make an appearance during the day.
This year’s final will take place at Newton Hall, at Newton by the Sea, on Friday, June 29, and 24 finalists will be given the chance to parade the catwalk.
The winner will receive a modelling contract with the newly-established Glamrus Model Agency, as well as a host of prizes, and will go on to compete in next year’s Miss England contest.
The Miss Northumberland 2012 competition comes on the back of last year’s successful inaugural event, and organisers One Voice Productions (OVP) have once again teamed up with media partner Northeast Press, which includes the Herald.
The competition, in aid of St Oswald’s Hospice, is open to candidates aged 17 to 24.
Heats across the county will begin soon.
