Bank sign bid is withdrawn

A HIGH street bank has withdrawn its bid for new Morpeth signage.

HSBC in New Market had submitted an application to erect illuminated signage at the branch as part of a wider project to alter the building, including moving the doorway to a previous entrance.

Morpeth town councillors said they had no objection to the renovations, but were concerned about the need for illuminated signs and whether they would fit in with the character of the area.

Now the bank has withdrawn that element of its plans.
