A PONTELAND church was packed as residents celebrated its 40th anniversary.
The first service at the United Reformed Church in Darras Hall was in 1973 and a special weekend was recently held at the building to mark the occasion.
It included displays about its history, important events and improvements to the building over the years, as well as information about its current activities and the groups that use the church. There was also a Service of Celebration.
Two metal seats at the front of the church were installed for the anniversary and they were officially unveiled by the Mayor of Ponteland, Peter Cowey.
