ALMOST 800 homes were left without power as fire raged through an electricity sub-station.
The blaze broke out in Coopies Lane, Morpeth, at about 7.30pm on Sunday, cutting power to 790 customers.
Two fire appliances were dispatched from Pegswood and used a hose reel to protect surrounding properties. The fire was extinguished by 10pm.
Power was restored to homes at 1am on Monday through the use of generators. Investigations are ongoing into the cause of the blaze.
