The Commissioner’s Quay Inn is in the prime place to view the ships before they disembark from Blyth to race across the North Sea to Gothenburg in Sweden.

As part of the town’s celebrations to mark the arrival of around 30 tall ships to the quay, the inn will be hosting an exclusive party with grandstand viewing of the ships, with free food and drinks for the lucky winners, plus their guests.

Do you know someone who goes above and beyond to help their friends, neighbours and the community around them in Blyth?

The Commissioner’s Quay Inn is giving away two golden tickets for people who go the extra mile to help others, whether that’s helping out in the community, volunteering or they are someone that has done something extra special to help you or someone you know.

To nominate your special person, we want you to write 100 words telling us about the special things they do to assist for other people in Blyth and the surrounding area and why they deserve a golden ticket to this once-in-a-lifetime event.

A panel of judges from the News Post Leader, The Commissioner’s Quay Inn and Arch, which is Northumberland County Council’s arms-length development company. will read each one and decide which two individuals are most deserving of a place at the Tall Ships party.

It has 40 bedrooms across three floors providing sea views, while a ground-floor bar and eating area overlooking the river provides covers for up to 265 diners inside, with a further 100 covers outside.

The project was developed by Arch and is operated by the Inn Collection Group (ICG), which has an expanding portfolio of inns, with rooms across the North East.

The Group’s venues include The Lindisfarne Inn, at Beal; The Bamburgh Castle Inn, at Seahouses; and The Hog’s Head Inn, at Alnwick.

The development is the second phase of Arch’s investment at Commissioners Quay, adding a further £5million after the opening of Blyth Workspace last year and with a new housing scheme planned later this year.
