VOLUNTEERS are getting into gear for the annual Christmas shoebox appeal.
Operation Christmas Child, organised by Samaritans Purse, sees schools, community groups, churches and individuals making up shoeboxes of gifts for needy children around the world.
This year, the mid Northumberland collection will be heading to Romania.
Drop-off points for the filled boxes will open next month at Leeds Building Society branches, Shoe Zone outlets, Stead and Simpson and the Lifestyle Christian Book Shop in Chantry Place, Morpeth.
The completed gifts will be processed in Blyth at Unit 30 Grasmere Way in the Riverside Business Park, by permission of Northumberland County Council.
Volunteers can help with the task from Wednesday, November 2 to Friday, November 25.
Anyone able to help the appeal in any way should contact District Co-ordinator Bob Shotton on 01670 516607.
