Morpeth Lions Club
THERE was a bumper payout when Morpeth Lions Club distributed almost £5,400 to 30 local charities and organisations.
The beneficiaries had participated in the club’s Dickens of a Draw. This is a raffle where the Lions organise the prizes and the tickets, with the organisations selling the tickets and getting back the money they raise.
A major beneficiary was Astley Community High School, which received nearly £700 from its ticket sales. This will be put to good use refurbishing the school’s outdoor centre in North Northumberland.
The Mayor Joan Tebbutt and her supporters raised a similar amount in aid of her nominated charity appeal, Henry Dancer Days.
