The John Dennison Lifetime Achievement Award will be on offer at March’s Borderway UK Dairy Expo in Carlisle for the fourth year on the trot.
This award is in memory of the contribution to the industry made by Cumbrian dairy farmer and breeder John Dennison.
The aim of the award is to recognise dairy cattle breeders or exhibitors judged to be high achievers and exemplary role models.
Glynn Lucas, of the event’s organiser, auctioneer Harrison and Hetherington, said: “This award really is a unique one for the UK dairy industry.
“It recognises people who shine and who have put their lifetimes work into the industry, just like John Dennison, whom it honours.”
This year’s winner will be announced at the fifth Borderway UK Dairy Expo on Saturday, March 12.
The winner of last year’s award was Sammy McCormick, owner of Northern Ireland’s Hilltara herd.
Mr McCormick said: “It was a total surprise, and I am absolutely delighted to have accepted the award.
“We welcomed John himself to our farm, and he was without a doubt a true champion.
“To have received this award is a great achievement for everyone involved in our family farm.”
Anyone wishing to forward a nomination should send a brief resumé on their candidate by Monday, February 1, to: John Dennison Lifetime Achievement Award, Harrison and Hetherington, Borderway Mart, Rosehill, Carlisle CA1 2RS.
The expo, to be held at the Borderway Exhibition Centre, includes champion cattle classes, the International Dairy Youth Championships and a trade exhibition.
