PAINTINGS will be found beside the produce at Morpeth Farmers’ Market this weekend in a new initiative.
Artist Morag Johnstone will exhibit her work, featuring paintings of the Northumberland coast and countryside and animal sketches, at the Butter Market in Morpeth Town Hall.
Market organisers hope the initiative will be the start of regular art and craft exhibitions running during farmers’ market days.
At the main event, specials this month include potted daffodils, narcissi and irises from Northern Ark Nursery in Longhorsley and handmade fudge and marbled chocolate eggs from Kenspeckle in Lynemouth.
It is also hoped that Northumberland Poultry will be there with duck, organic chicken and guinea fowl.
All the usual produce will also be for sale, such as meat, fish, jam, cheese, butter, quiche and cakes.
The event takes place in Morpeth Market Place on Saturday, from 9am to 2.30pm.
