A new food store’s popularity has been hailed as a sign that a Northumbrian village’s fortunes are on the up.
The Co-operative, opened on the site of the former Pegswood Ex-Service Sports and Social Club in June, creating 15 new jobs.
Open from 7am to 11pm daily, it is one of several planned redevelopment projects in the village being carried out by Morpeth’s Enviro Property Partners.
Company Director David Pollard said villagers appear to be very happy with the Main Street store, adding: “The feedback from local residents has been very positive, and we are happy to introduce a new successful business to the area.
“The store signifies the continuing redevelopment of Pegswood, which is set to create new jobs and opportunities for the local community.”
