Stores from Sanderson Arcade took to the Piazza area recently to showcase the best of their new term school products with a back-to-school event.

Stores such as Marks and Spencer, Clarks, Paperchase and New Look were in the Piazza area from 12pm till 3pm on a sunny afternoon, along with free face-painting and creepy crawlies from Animal Escapades.

Clarks were offering a special foot-measuring service where little ones were sized up for the new school year with discounts being offered when an appointment was made in store.

The Great Morpeth Kids Bake Off, in association with The Pudding Parlour, also proved a popular event with more than 20 entries taking part in two different age categories.

The judging proved extremely difficult for Pudding Parlour co-owner Kristy Giblin, who was given the task of deciding the best bakes from each category.

The winner of the age four-seven category was Lexi Slater, aged five, with her beautifully decorated ‘ladybird garden’ sponge, and the winner of the age eight-11 category was Faith Robson, aged 10, also with a garden themed cake.

The winners received Pudding Parlour goodies including a miniature Pudding Parlour pinny amongst other baking themed prizes.

Medi Parry, Sanderson Arcade Centre Manager, said: ‘We had a great weekend here at the Arcade with the stores showcasing the best of their back to school products.

“The icing on the cake was definitely the ‘Bake Off’ event held in the Piazza area. We had some great entries and Kristy did a great job of judging.”
