A specialist bathroom manufacturer has secured a £200,000 investment to support its development.
Aartoft, based in Lynemouth, is the UK’s only producer of lightweight concrete pre-fabricated bathrooms, which have long been used in the Scandinavian construction industry.
The business received £300,000 from the Finance For Business North East Growth Fund in 2013, and after diversifying into lightweight steel-frame bathroom pods, it is increasing its focus on the domestic market.
Now its management team has secured the further Growth Fund investment, thanks to support from Ryecroft Glenton Corporate Finance.
Aartoft has recruited a new company director, William Johnson, and will be hiring apprentices to join the existing 30-strong workforce.
It has already won a major contract with St Andrew’s University in Scotland, with more projects in the pipeline.
Aartoft owner Niels Sandahl said: “The cost, efficiency and quality benefits that our products and way of working offer have quickly become clear to our growing customer base, and we’re beginning to realise the huge potential that we believe our products have in the UK.”
