Celebrations are in full swing at shopping centre

MUM’S the word at a busy shopping centre.

Sanderson Arcade in Morpeth has launched a Mother’s Day competition to reward a special mum with a fantastic pamper hamper.

Children simply have to tell the judges why their mother deserves to win.

The prize includes a cut and blow dry at Jazz Hair, a month’s membership of Energie Gym, a manicure from Urban Spa, a collagen drink from Advanced Nutrition, accessories from Hobbs, Laura Ashley and Lakeland, books from Waterstones and a brie baker from The Corbridge Larder.

There will also be chocolates and afternoon tea for two at the arcade’s new chocolate shop Gareth James, which is due to open in April.

The competition can be entered online at www.sandersonarcade.co.uk/competition or by picking up a leaflet from the centre and posting it in a purple letterbox in The Corbridge Larder. The deadline for entries is Wednesday, March 26.

l There is a double celebration for staff at an arcade menswear shop.

Frank Bird is marking its second anniversary of trading in the town since expanding from its Yorkshire bases in Wakefield and Barnsley.

And the icing on the cake is the news that it has been shortlisted in the Johnston Press What’s On Where (WOW) Awards, in the Independent Boutique category.

The winners will be announced at a ball at Newton Hall in Alnwick later this month.

l St Patrick’s Day fun will start early at the centre.

Irish dance academy Clann na nGael, which has seen members perform in Lord of the Dance, will take to the piazza on Saturday, from noon to 2pm, ahead of the Saint’s day on Monday.
