Chamber seeks views on charity shop business rates’ campaign

Town traders have been asked to back moves to try to limit the number of charity shops in the high street.

Alnwick Chamber of Trade plans to press political parties in the run-up to the General Election to review discounted business rates for such outlets as it says they have an adverse effect on town centres.

Now the Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade is seeking urgent input from members to form a report on its views, which will determine whether it will join an alliance of Northumberland’s market towns to campaign on the issue.
