Export markets for beef and lamb take centre stage at event

The global market for beef and lamb will come under the spotlight next week.

The AHDB (Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board) Beef and Lamb annual conference takes place on Tuesday.

And the main focus will be the outlook for domestically-produced meat and the future for trade of beef and lamb in the United States and European Union.

Other matters on the agenda are the role of livestock in the environment, a presentation on food and health by University College Dublin Professor Patrick Wall, and a review of New Zealand sheep supply by Beef and Lamb New Zealand’s regional manager for Europe Dave Harrison.

AHDB Beef and Lamb head of global supply chain development Dr Phil Hadley said: “While our domestic market remains our priority, export markets present huge opportunities for our products, not least those for which there is limited demand in the UK.

“Our annual conference is the ideal forum to highlight these opportunities to industry stakeholders.”

The conference will be held at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire. See www.beefandlamb.ahdb.org.uk for more details.
