Food for thought in county event

FINE dining will come into focus for the first Northumberland Restaurant Week.

The event will come to the county next month to showcase the best of local produce and highlight places to eat.

The seven-day initiative, which is being co-ordinated by Your Northumberland Guide, will involve more than 35 eateries across Northumberland, including The Corbridge Larder and Barluga in Morpeth, as well as The Linden Tree at Macdonald Linden Hall Golf and Country Club.

Each will be presenting offers and promotions so that residents and visitors to the area can dine out at great value.

The aim is to raise awareness of the county’s dining offer, as well as help the public discover new places to eat.

Your Northumberland Guide creator Andrew Bothamley said: “We feel Northumberland is often overlooked when it comes to promoting our amazing food producers, restaurants and places to eat that we are lucky enough to enjoy all year round.

“We wanted an event to celebrate everything Northumbrian so, with the help of our huge social networks, we’ve covered as much of Northumberland as we can, with the aim to have an offer close to everyone in the county.

“As far as we know, this is the first event of its kind in Northumberland. It has been received extremely well by restaurateurs and will be popular with the public.”

The event will run from Monday, March 18 to Sunday, March 24.
