Helping hand for appeal

Employees from across Northern Powergrid have raised more than £8,000 for the Nepal earthquake appeal.

The fund-raising effort started after four Nepalese Northern Powergrid workers appealed to fellow colleagues for donations following the devastating incident on April 25, which has claimed the lives of more than 8,600 people.

Staff from across the firm that manages the network which delivers electricity to the doors of homes and businesses in the North East and other areas made individual donations and organised cake sales, raffles and a dress down day. The company itself made a donation of £1,200.
