A NEW company aims to cruise into the holiday industry after being launched in Morpeth.
Paul New and his wife Jenni have decided to launch their Cruise Holidays business to help holidaymakers find the perfect trip.
More people are enjoying cruise holidays and the pair hope to tap into the industry.
They were joined by Newcastle United legend Malcolm Macdonald at their launch party, held in the Sour Grapes in Morpeth, and they are hoping to work with him in the future.
Mr New said: “I was a journalist for more than 30 years but decided I wanted to do something a bit different.
“Jenni and I have been passionate about travelling and cruising so we decided to go down that avenue and set up this franchise.
“We offer a personal service to couples looking to book cruises, making sure they book the right one for them.
“There are lots of different options out there and if you don’t know what you are looking for, you could end up with something you don’t quite want.
“The number of people going on cruises is going up each year, it was up eight percent last year on the year before that. We deal with all the major cruise liners.”
He added: “The other strand of the business is trying to set up cruise groups for those who share a common interest or hobby.
“It could also be based around a celebrity and we’re looking to do a cruise alongside Malcolm Macdonald next year.
“We expect interest in the SuperMac cruise to be considerable, and places will be limited as we want to keep it exclusive.”
