Hundreds of potential home-buyers have expressed an interest in 400 homes being built at Stobhill, Morpeth, by Barratt Homes North East since the development was announced four months ago.
Since plans were first presented for the 396-property site, almost 600 potential customers have made inquiries to the Newcastle-based firm.
The site, to the south of the town, will consist of properties offering one, two, three, four and five bedrooms.
It will create or support 1,700 jobs over the course of the development’s construction, injecting £5.6m into the North East economy.
Fenton Hewitt, Sales Director for Barratt Homes North East, said: “We are delighted with the unprecedented levels of interest in the Stobhill development.
“The fact that so many people have expressed an interest goes to show there is serious demand for high-quality housing in the region and that people are keen to invest in the area.
“If interest continues to grow as it has, Stobhill could turn out to be one of the best-selling developments in the North East.”
