STAFF at a Ponteland supermarket have said a fond farewell to one of their team leaders.
Joe Hogg has left the town’s Sainsbury’s branch in order to further a career in computer studies.
He has a Masters degree in Computer Sciences at Newcastle University, during which time he devised a way of collating data for research into combating cancer.
Mr Hogg worked part-time at Sainsbury’s to finance his studies and was offered a full-time position at the store on completion of his degree, which he happily took up.
But due to the nature of his research, he has now obtained a placement with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead to work with the cancer research medical staff.
Branch Manager Vicki Mains said: “Joe will be sadly missed at the store, but it is great to hear of a success story in these times of recession.”
